If you’re a TikTok
user, chances are that you’ve already seen this graphic video one way or
another.
For damage control,
TikTok is now banning accounts and stopping people from reloading a video that
shows a man shooting himself with a gun.
TikTok has claimed that
this video had surfaced on Facebook and soon managed to find its way on every
other social media website. As soon as the TikTok community figured out what
the clip was all about, creators began to pose warning labels and urged
followers to beware of a thumbnail with a man with a grey beard, sitting in
front of his desk.
They’ve explained how
the video is disturbing and started circulating on Sunday night.

“Our
systems have been automatically detecting and flagging these clips for
violating our policies against content that displays, praises, glorifies, or
promotes suicide. We are banning accounts that repeatedly try to upload such clips,
and we appreciate our community members who’ve reported content and warned
others against watching, engaging or sharing such videos on any platform out
of respect for the person and their family.” – says TikTok
in its official press release.
As mentioned earlier,
this video is being shared on other social media sites like Facebook,
Instagram, and Reddit. But since this video is available on the ‘For You Page’,
TikTok users can easily access it and find it difficult to avoid.
Hence, it’s wonderful
to see that the TikTok community is taking precautions and giving signs and
tips on how to stop it from spreading.
“If
anyone in our community is struggling with thoughts of suicide or concerned
about someone who is, we encourage them to seek support, and we provide access
to hotlines directly from our app and in our Safety Center,” said
the Twitter spokesperson.
