A new benchmark has now been set for a high-refresh-rate display by RedMagic, a sub-brand of ZTE sub-brand Nubia.
The gaming phone is now up for a global pre-order, making it RedMagic’s first-ever 5G phone to have a 144Hz screen. This, by the way, is the standard refresh rate for any high-end gaming monitor. The screen is 6.65-inch 1080p OLED panel, and RedMagic 5G seems even larger due to the slight bezels up to top and bottom. The phone is the size of Galaxy S8 along with a punch cutout for the selfie camera, making it excellent for gaming.
Other specificities are as high-end as you could imagine: a Snapdragon 865, 5G support up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 265 GB of storage. Additionally, it has an Android 10 and a 4,500mAh battery (that can be charged with the superfast 55W) However, there’s no option for wireless charging available.

Although, nobody buys a gaming phone for its camera, it isn’t a bad purchase if RedMagic 5G offers a triple-lens setup including a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor. Along with this, you get a headphone jack as well as the stereo speakers.
It can’t be denied that the gaming functionality of RedMagic’s 5G is perhaps more explicit than any other gaming phones. It also comes with liquid cooling as a vent on the edge of the phone. It can get loud so you can switch it off when it isn’t needed. You also get capacitive shoulder buttons at the top of the phone. RedMagic is selling a joystick-and-buttons attachments along with the phone, so do check that out!
The 144Hz screen looks neat and smooth when you’re using the phone normally. Hence, RedMagic 5G with an 8GB RAM is up for purchase for just $579 whereas the RedMagic 5G with a 12GB RAM is being sold for $649!
