After several months of teasers and images, the wait is finally over! OnePlus has finally released OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro for the users. Both models are powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chipset but the larger of the two phones, OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a big display and camera improvements. OnePlus introduced a 90 Hz display last year in their OnePlus 7 Pro but now, it has jumped up to 120 Hz.

This jump puts it in the same category as Samsung’s latest GalaxyS20. One Plus is using a 6.78- inch QHD+ display on the OnePlus 8 Pro and the 120 Hz display will help with smoother animations, scrolling and general navigation in Android. The company has also included sensors at the front and back of the screen to provide automatic brightness.

Another big update in this phone is the quadruple-camera system. One Plus has used a 48-megapixel main camera with a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens along with a telephoto lens and a color filter camera. The ultra-wide lens includes a 120-degree angle, and the telephoto supports 3x hybrid, and 30x digital zoom.

If you don't know the function of a color filter camera then here's what we know so far. It has been introduced to support lighting effects and filters for photography. OnePlus has also stated that the feature to make night time photos sharper has been improved and it compared a photo from iPhone 11 Pro to the new OnePlus 8 Pro during the online event.

Along with the outputs, OnePlus has also worked thoroughly on the internal functions of the phone. The phone has up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256 GB of UFS 3.0 storage, and Wi-Fi 6 support. OnePlus is also including an IP68 rating for the OnePlus 8 Pro, meaning it should be dust resistant and be dunked in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

The phone is also finally supporting 30W “Warp Charge” wireless charging which means that the phone will receive 50 percent battery life in just 30 minutes. Regular 5W Qi chargers can also be used on OnePlus 8 but they will charge slower than the original one. The OnePlus 8 Pro includes a 4,510 mAh battery, and using a regular charge it will get to 60 percent battery in 30 minutes.

OxygenOS Android has also seen some improvements with the implementation on the new handsets. OnePlus says that 280 new optimizations have been introduced to make the Android experience quite smooth on the 120 Hz or 90 Hz displays. Along with this, dark themes and dynamic wallpapers that can change with the weather have been included.

Both the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will come in black, blue, and a new green color option. There’s even an “Interstellar Glow” color option for the OnePlus 8, which mixes color at the rear in a special film. It sounds and looks a lot like Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 “Aura Glow” color option.

The phones will be available in two prices: $899 for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or $999 for 12 GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
