Google is redesigning Gmail and it seems like the new design can help you collaborate with colleagues while you work on Google Docs and communicate via Google Meet without having to leave Gmail. The images of the redesign were leaked on Google’s website for the Google Cloud Next ’20: OnAir event.

In the new design, you will find tabs for Mail, Chat rooms, and Meet. With the Chat tab, you can converse with people, and with the Rooms tab, you can have proper topic-based conversations. This is somewhat similar to Slack. Furthermore, the Meet tab shows reminders for upcoming scheduled Google Meet meetings along with suggestions of who you might want to contact.
Another slide shows that with the new design, you can work on Google Docs while communicating through Gmail. This will help you pace up while collaborating on projects.
Google’s intentions were reported back in January when the news was leaked that Google is trying to bring different applications together. This idea was bolstered with the pandemic at hand.
