Until two days ago, rumors suggested that Apple was gearing up for a new MacBook Pro launch that would be followed by additional outputs sometime later this year. Apple MacBook users have often found connectivity issues in their high-end notebooks. They complain that standard ports that work on any other computer brand don’t work on Apple. Apple users are required to purchase expensive accessories, like dongles and docking stations.
The rumor started all thanks to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that MacBook Pro models could feature an integrated HDMI port and SD card reader. Kuo also claimed that the MacBook will launch in the second half of 2021. He didn’t stop there – he wrote a letter and sent it to investors stating that the new notebook will launch in the second half of the year and it will come with significant changes and design re-launch.
Kuo also claimed that there will be changes added to the video output and memory card reader, which will be marked as practical additions. He also went on to say that Apple will be launching a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook models. He also believes that the classic MagSafe connector will be making a comeback and the edges might be flatter than predicted.
He also predicted that the new MacBook might come with additional ports to expand the options for connectivity. Kuo was apparently not the only analyst who made these predictions; Mark Gurman was on the same boat.
We all know that almost every professional photographer and videographer relies on Mac computers – they need the computer for editing like a fish needs water to survive. Hence, keeping this in mind, bringing back the SD card reader sounds like a great idea! Mac fans have hated the Touch Bar option and they aren’t too excited for it to make a return.
But these were all mere predictions – today, we’re down with official details!
Apple fans will be elated to know that Apple’s 2021 MacBook Pro refresh is actually coming with not just the SD card reader but also the HDMI port! Kuo and Gurman were completely on point with their predictions!
Apple faced massive criticism a few years ago when it replaced all the ports and came up with a new USB Type-C standard. In fact, until 2015, MacBook Pro series used to function on USB Type-A ports, Thunderbolts, HDMI, and the average SD card reader. Not to forget, it used to come with MagSafe charging option. It was a disaster for fans when Apple cut out all these features!
But it seems like Apple has finally heard its fans and has decided to restore its former glory!
Here’s what the official website reports:
The 13-inch MacBook Pro will have an M1 chip with 8-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. The device comes with an 8GB memory and 256GB SSD storage. There’s also a 13-inch Retina display with True Tone along with a Magic Keyboard. Unfortunately, Touch Bar is making a return (fans may not approve of it) along with Touch ID. There’s also a Force Touch trackpad, two Thunderbolt/ USB 4 ports.
The 16-inch MacBook pro has an M1 Chip with 8-Core CPU and 8-core GPU and all the same features. However, its SSD storage is higher – 512GB. The processor speeds is definitely worth it. Among the new set of features and specifications, you’d especially like the changes done to the hard drive installations, VGA, and the Native Display Port.
The MacBook comes in two colors: space grey and silver. The price starts at $1199! You may also pay in installments, making it $108.25 per month.
Furthermore, Bloomberg has suggested that the Apple card might give discount to customers.
