‘I’m speaking’: Kamala Harris’ fightback to Mike Pence is a slogan for everyone ever wisecracked

You know you’re living in a shitty era where a
woman has to remind men that she’s speaking so that they can stop talking over
them in a formal meeting.

But unfortunately, the potential Vice President is
also not immune to this deeply stupid tactic!

Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris had to
reclaim her time during the Vice Presidential candidates’ debate. Though Mike
Pence can’t really beat Trump when it comes to shouting over the moderator and
his opponent, Pence kept on talking even though his time was up, and
interrupted Harris several times when she was talking.

Kamala Harris had to remind the VP at least four
times during the 90-minute debate:

“I’m speaking. Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking.”

By the end of the debate, “I’M SPEAKING” has
become an instant meme over Twitter with more than 44,000 tweets quoting
Senator Harris’ words.

Women were especially comforted by
the sight of a woman candidate not letting a grown-up White MAN hijack her
speaking time.

As a matter of fact, multiple studies
have concluded that men interrupt women in mixed-gender settings much more
frequently and consistently than women interrupt men.

Isn’t it surprising that, if a woman
respectfully pushes back, it hits a nerve?
