Hua Mulan is coming to all streaming channels….
For all those people who desperately want to watch Mulan's exclusive look but don't want to pay for a Disney Plus subscription, we have good news for you! The movie is coming to FandangoNow, Amazon, Vudu, and other digital streaming channels on 6th October!
The movie is currently available at $29.99 for preorder.
Mulan released on 4th September on Disney Plus as a “Premier Access” title. This means that the subscribers of Disney Plus should have to pay an extra $30 to enjoy the movie. They also need to maintain their monthly Disney Plus subscription for $6.99 in order to keep the movie in their watch list.
Now, Disney is making the movie accessible to anyone and of course anywhere (you still have to purchase it, though). Mulan is already released for preorder in HD, SD, or 4K UHD.
Moving Mulan to Disney Plus instead of the originally intended theatrical release is quite ballsy and a pivotal decision for the company. Though, Disney didn't release any number to deduce whether the movie was a success or a failure at the Streaming channel.
Disney’s chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, said the company has been “very pleased with what we saw over the four-day weekend” at the latest press conference, though, we will reserve our judgment until next earnings call of Disney.
Disney’s latest stunt shows that the company is still trying to gauge how to function with the unexpected uncertainties in the distribution markets and filmmaking industry affected by the pandemic. Warner Bros’ Tenet got good revenue internationally yet failed to earn well within the US because of limited theatres functioning.
That’s the reason why Mulan shifted to Disney Plus, and you can expect to see more movies heading to streaming as well. The film will be available to stream on Disney Plus for regular subscribers starting December 14th.
