If you lived in the 90s, you’d be aware of the popularity, style and confidence that Spice Girls carried. They were everywhere and for all the good reasons!
However, one of the members ended up having a rather unique nickname, and to this day, we had no idea how it came about.
Like, why was Victoria called Posh? Well, the cat’s out of the bag, as we now know how our favorite Spice Girl became Posh:
"I was given the name Posh in 1996 over lunch with Peter Loraine of Top of The Pops Magazine and the rest of the Spice Girls." the singer turned designer wrote on her Victoria Beckham Beauty Instagram account.
She wrote that even though she wasn’t exactly comfortable with the name at first, but it did grow on her. She used to be shy and awkward and the nickname strangely gave her confidence and style. It helped her find her voice.
However, she mentioned that once that chapter ended, she tried to isolate herself from the nickname. She wanted to find her own direction. She is now, of course, one of the biggest fashion designers in the UK.
Victoria Beckham now looks back at her formative years with appreciation, as they changed her life forever. She wrote this heartfelt message to celebrate another chapter of her life – the launch of Posh lipsticks.
She wrote: “It is deeply personal — lipstick has always given me confidence when I needed it and extra spice when I already had it. Each shade is inspired by a specific memory, and whilst the moments may have been my own, the energy and emotion are shared by us all."
