Joker left the audiences in a haze as the character, portrayed by the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix stood on a car and danced to the rhythm of destruction while being cheered on by the rioters. And one question that we have all been asking since the last scene of the movie is, will there be a sequel?
Even though the psychopathic villain of Gotham City was given a backstory, there is no denying that the fates of Gotham’s golden boy Bruce Wayne and Arthur Fleck have collided and we are waiting for something as magical as their encounter in The Dark Knight. Everybody wants the story to be communicated by the Oscar-winning star, Phoenix.

Much to the disappointment of the fans, however, no sequel of the movie has been confirmed yet, either by the director Phillips or the actor, Phoenix himself. Phillips says, “It would have to have some thematic resonance in a similar way that this does. Because I think that’s ultimately why the movie connected, it’s what’s going on underneath. So many movies are about the spark, and this is about the powder. If you could capture that again in a real way that would be interesting.”

Warner Bros do not usually invest in independent movies, and even though it was connected with the DC cinematic universe, the story was told from a different perspective. But that doesn’t mean that the sequel of the magic Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix brought to the screens is totally off the table. We have our fingers crossed and hope that the duo works out something as sensational as Joker.
