As the spookiest season is just around the corner, Netflix has decided to add another foreign flick in its horror genre—and this time it’s from Bartosz M. Kowalski.
‘Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight’ is a polish movie, originally titled “W lesie dziś nie zaśnie nikt.” The film follows a group of tech-addicted teenagers who decide to go offline camp at the forest and end up encountering a deadly danger lurking in the woods.
The movie was originally intended for Friday the 13th release in theatres
Originally, it was intended for a theatrical release on the 13th of March, on Friday, making it one of the many spooky movies released on a Friday the 13th. The film garnered many positive reviews from the critics, and despite that, it was released on the streaming giant exclusively for Poland a week later and became the most-watched Netflix films in the country. Now, the movie is getting a Netflix treatment and is scheduled to release on October 28.
It’s not a typical horror movie!
Nobody sleeps in the Woods Tonight is a complete nag on the horror genre. It’s not one of the typical horror movies you think it would be! It’s an impressive fusion of some iconic movies including The Goonies, The Terminator, and even He-Man movies. Just like these movies, Kowalski’s piece is more of a dark thriller.
The movie is set in the 90s
The story revolves around a group of teenagers, dressed up in the 90s fashion, encountering the evil lurking in the woods. The fans of Stranger Things might like to watch this movie.
The movie is enriched with some wonderful characters!
Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight’s cast includes Sebastian Dela as Jock Daniel. Stanislaw Cywka as Bartek, Wiktoria Gasiewska as Aniela, Michal Lupa as Julek, and Julia Wieniawa as the female protagonist, Zosia.
Spoiler alert: don’t get too attached with the characters as they may, ahem, get killed one by one.
