All those 80’s kids who grew up watching the most popular
teen sitcom Saved By the Bell definitely
belong to these two categories: fans who find Screech, a character played by
Dustin Diamond, most irritating, or those who could relate to this character
and knew deep down that they were a true Screech by heart.

When the show returned to our screens on 25^th
November on Peacock with most of the original star and cast, one person was missing;
Dustin Diamond. 

Fans flocked to Twitter to express their concerns wondering;
what happened to him? Is he alive? Why is he not reprising his role in the
show?

The earlier speculations suggested that he wasn’t getting the
desired pay, or contract because of which he refused to take the offer. But it
turned out that something really went wrong with the actor!

The latest reports confirmed that Dustin Diamond had been
hospitalized in Florida over the weekend. The actor was suffering from “pain
all over his body and a general sense of unease.”

While the 44-year-old actor is currently going through some
tests at the hospital and scheduled for a biopsy, health professionals speculate
that Diamond may have developed cancer.

“All we ask is just people put him in thoughts and prayers,”
his representatives told to a media organization. Fans believe that he might
have inherited cancer gene from her mother, who died of the same disease.

The actor’s representatives said that his condition is
serious, but they don’t know its extent. They appealed to his fans to remember
the actor in their thoughts and prayers.

Diamond was widely known for his role in Saved by the Bell as Screech, which
first premiered on NBC IN 1989. After the original show concluded in 1993,
Diamond reprised his character in the shows’ two spinoffs; Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class.

The original cast reunited again for a revival series “Saved
by the bell” premiered on 25^th November 2020 on peacock without
Dustin Diamond.  

The fellow actress, Lark Voorhies, who starred as Lisa
Turtle in the original show, revealed why Diamond hasn’t returned as Screech.
She said, “The almighty dollar rules on that. They do have a segment in there
that explains why he’s not here.” She added, “He wants to be paid and
respected, we would for him to come back on set.”

Another co-star Elizabeth Berkley said that she did not know
whether the actor will join the show or not. “We’re discussing, but I just
don’t know yet.”

“It depends on the storylines and how they play out and all
of that, but I wish Dustin nothing but the best. I just haven’t seen him for a
lot of years but I do wish him the best. He was always kind to me,” the actress
added.

Dustin Diamond hasn’t been seen in the spotlight for some
years. He last appeared in a short movie Catching
Up, which debuted last year.
