Contagion is a 2011 medical thriller about a frightening global pandemic. Seems relatable, right?
Despite the fact that it was released nine years ago, it is charting on iTunes at number eight for all movie genres. It’s currently the third most popular movie. Also, its torrent downloads have suddenly experienced a rise, too.
Well, Steven Soderbergh’s movie also has a stellar cast including Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, and Gwyneth Paltrow. But here’s the thing: No matter what anybody says and how promising the cast seems, this is not the right time to watch the movie.
As a society, we’re already incredibly disturbed because of the lethal COVID-19. Countries are on complete lockdowns, economies are shuttering, and people are dying. It’s chaotic out there while you’re compelled to self-isolate. Don’t you think that by watching this movie now, you can possibly increase the paranoia?
Look, we don’t have a vaccine as of yet, and nobody knows how long this will last. By watching Contagion, you will create paranoia for yourself. Yes, there are movies about the global pandemic that are actually calming. However, they are the ones that leave a positive and hopeful message in the end. As far as Contagion is concerned, that is not the case. Therefore, for your own mental peace, you’re advised to skip this movie.
