Recently, Facebook data leaked and caused a massive controversy - putting the CEO in the middle of a thunderstorm yet again. This is the same platform that literally dumped the personal information of 533 million users on the internet for the world to use and exploit.
The latest controversy has brought the CEO Mark Zuckerberg under hot water. Even the founder of the company wasn’t spared, as his communication with peers using Signal got leaked.
According To the latest reports, the data that got leaked includes Zuckerberg’s phone number, his Facebook user ID, and his personal information like location, birth date, and marriage details. But the strange thing to see here is the fact that the owner of Facebook himself is using Signal, which is its rival company and also an end-to-end encrypted app.
One user of Twitter pointed out the irony with this tweet:
“Mark Zuckerberg also respects his own privacy, by using a chat app that has end-to-end encryption and isn’t owned by @Facebook. This is the number associated with his account from the recent Facebook leak. Mark uses Signal.” And he also posted the screenshot with the tweet.
In fact, the official Twitter handle of Signal took no time to troll the CEO Baddie when the new became public.
Do you remember the time when the personal data of 533 million Facebook users got leaked? In included 61 hundred thousand Indians. At the time, Facebook claimed that it was the old data and that the platform doesn’t have vulnerable users who are prone to cybercrimes.
Another spokesperson has said that the data was old, and the fault came to attention back in 2019. Facebook found the problems and fixed them by August 2019.
“All 533,000,000 Facebook records were just leaked for free. This means that if you have a Facebook account, it is extremely likely the phone number used for the account was leaked.” - Alon Gal who is the CTO of security firm Hudson Rock wrote.
Signal, the rival app of Facebook, was introduced in 2014 and has users that were the same found on WhatsApp. It is basically your back up messaging app that can challenge the Facebook-owned app.
Do you know that Signal was at number one on Google Play Store when WhatsApp had updated its privacy policy? This, of course, didn’t go well with its users, yet the terms of service were put into effect on May 2021. Signal has been gaining a lot of popularity in the last few months, especially after Elon Musk tweeted about it.
Mark Zuckerberg is no stranger to memes and jokes on social media; he’s literally the epicenter of all the drama that goes on! Some poke fun at him when he’s behaving like a robot in legal hearings. Some point out his uncomfortable body language and call him a robot as he struggles to express his emotions like “normal” human beings. Some even compared the situation with My Space - and it’s honestly hilarious.
