Fans are enthralled to know that their favorite character is
returning for the upcoming Star Trek series!

There’s not much information about Nickelodeon’s Star Trek: Prodigy, but the latest revelations
suggest that the upcoming season will be staring Kate Mulgrew, who is reprising
her role of Captain Katheryn Janeway from Star
Trek: Voyager.

The actress made the big revelation during a virtual “Star
Trek Universe” panel, where she said that the sequel of popular animated series
would be coming to Nickelodeon in 2021.

“I think you will enjoy it. I certainly enjoyed doing it,
and I think we’re going into the next season very soon,” Mulgrew said. While it
was certain that Nickelodeon had already renewed the series for the second
season “Star Trek: Prodigy,” it is
now confirmed that Janeway (Mulgrew) will also be returning for the second
installment.

“I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain
Janeway and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in
‘Star Trek” Prodigy,” said Mulgrew. “How thrilling to be able to introduce to
these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the
helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”

Voyager was
the first Star Trek series to feature a Voyager star, a female captain, Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) as the protagonist. Now the
ground-breaking character is returning for the sequel.

Created by Kevin and Dan Hageman, “Star Trek: Prodigy” season 2 is based on a group of disorderly
teens who goes for an adventure on a derelict Starfleet ship to find meaning
and salvation. The animated series is slated to broadcast on Nickelodeon in
2021.

Alex Kurtzman, the executive producer of the show, described
Mulgrew’s character; he said, “Captain Janeway was held to a different standard
than her predecessors. She was asked to embody an inhuman level of perfecting
in order to be accepted as ‘good enough’ by the doubters but showed them all that
it means to be truly outstanding. We can think of no better captain to inspire
the next generation of dreamers on Nickelodeon, than she.”

Ramsey Naito, President Nickelodeon said that Mulgrew
portrayed the character of Captain Janeway really well. Her iconic character
resonates well with a global young audience for many years. Fans are eagerly
waiting for this character to life differently, as it continues to be an
inspiration for both existing and new fans.

The announcement of Star Trek series was first made in April
2019, with Nickelodeon decided to produce two of its seasons of Star Trek. If
