Coronavirus has generally been quite damaging for corporate and business around the world. First, tech companies banned employees from travelling to China but now that more cases from the US are being reported, they are forced to take even stricter measures.

Amazon and Facebook have closed down their offices in Seattle and asked the employees to work from home.

Some workers from both the companies tested positive for COVID-19, a disease that is spread through coronavirus. So as the situation gets worse in California and New York, tech-companies are not willing to take any risk. Two deaths have been reported in Seattle, and overall in the state of Washington, there have been 70 confirmed cases and ten fatalities.

Amazon and Facebook have issued policies that instruct the workers to stay at home and remain in contact with the company, at least till the end of March. Amazon took such measures because, on 2nd March, a Seattle-based employee was put in quarantine and reportedly acquired the virus on 25th February.

Google employees have been asked to work using resources at home, and they are discouraged from bringing any guests or visitors to Washington-based offices.

Facebook office in Seattle has also been closed because a contractor was affected by the virus. So, all 5000 employees in the company have been asked to stay at home till the end of March.

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, said that all the employees are “strongly encouraged” to work from home “if able” and similar policies apply to all the offices in Washington.

All over the world, the virus continues to grow, and there have been 97,000 confirmed cases so far. It is scary because while previously only China’s economy was facing a decline, it looks like the hopes of Wilbur Ross who predicted that the epidemic would generate more jobs in the United States have been crushed.

After the disappointing ranking of Tuesday, Elizabeth Warren has decided to drop out of the race of presidential election. Now we’re left with Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, and the winner will then go ahead against Donald Trump for 2020 presidency.

The former law professor campaigned rigorously to fight corruption and change the consistently unstable economy. The senator’s unexpected withdrawal has left us disappointed as now we’re back to square one. Two white men are going to fight it out and get a chance to stand against Donald Trump for the presidential elections.

Nothing will change as we’re still going to be governed by a privileged white man for the next four years.

America is dumb for not voting for a progressive woman. Instead, they keep placing their votes in favor of 70-year-old men who have one foot in the grave already.

Warren’s exit is a direct result of poor showings in the critical Super Tuesday contest. What started out has a historically diverse democratic field has quickly boiled down to two white men.

Warren expressed her anguish to all her supporters from Massachusetts.

“One of the hardest parts of this is all those pinky promises. All those little girls are going to have to wait for a woman.” – said Warren to the rally.

Throughout the campaign, we had witnessed Warren go down on her knees to assure little girls of her victory. It’s exactly what women needed. We needed representation and reassurance. Little girls deserve a better today and an even better tomorrow. They need to see that they too can become future leaders and presidents.

Last summer, six women were photographed high-fiving and laughing with each other. We were ready for the change. We needed to utter “Madam President” out loud.

The midterm of 2018 was deeply encouraging as being a woman was now viewed as a distinctive advantage. People of color won votes in the white-majority districts, and by 2019, six women from diverse backgrounds were finalized as the presidential nominees.

And guess what we’re left with? Two white men in their 70s yet again.

Elizabeth Warren’s sudden withdrawal makes it loud and clear that women are not allowed to enter the highest offices in the country. Their presence would never be acknowledged, and it’s a stark reminder of what women experience while they’re vying for votes.

It has sparked a vicious rage within us and made us question whether the notion of electability is discussed because of her gender. In fact, Warren herself spoke about the role that sexism played in her campaign.

“Gender in this race, you know, that is the trap question for everyone. If you say, ‘Yeah, there was sexism in this race,’ everyone says, ‘Whiner!’ And if you say ‘No, there was no sexism,’ about a bazillion women think. What planet do you live on? I promise you this: I’ll have a lot more to say on that subject later on.”

There’s a voice in our heads that is always confirming the disheartening truth. We all feel that no matter what happens, women don’t stand a chance.

“She’s a firecracker, but she doesn’t have all that experience that Biden does. And I don’t think she can win, because she’s a woman, dang it, and they don’t like women presidents, I guess,” said a voter in Iowa last January.

Biden and Sanders both have released their statements on her sudden decision to quit.

Sanders said, “She has run a very strong issue-oriented campaign and the reason that her campaigns ideas will remain viable for many, many years is she has changed political conscience in America.”

Whereas Biden called her the “fiercest of fighters for middle class families.”

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that Elizabeth Warren has quit the presidential race, but please, enough with that depressing shit already. We need to talk about something equally important, if not more. 

Bailey, Warren’s dog, wouldn’t let go of burritos and it’s honestly the cutest thing ever!

Listen, Bailey has been by her side every step of the way. Her famous golden retriever is, in fact, no stranger to the spotlight. I mean, who can forget the time when he cutely barged in during a CNN interview just so that Warren could pet him? Trust me that moment was crucial as I immediately decided to vote in her favor.

Nobody is going to deny that it’s been an exciting year for our good boy. So, you know, it makes sense if he wants to celebrate. And so what if he randomly picked up a burrito, swiped it, and never let it go? It’s cute, and we adore him too much.

You can see for yourself how hard it was to take the burrito from Bailey’s devoted grip. But, hey! He deserved every bite of it, and people on Twitter agree.

The 17-year-old climate activist who previously shook the world with her UN speech is back to remind the world leaders that we are running out of time. This time, she was on the panel of young environmentalists at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Greta Thunberg highlighted the issue at the forum saying that we are running out of time and are unable to keep the temperature below 1.5 degrees Celsius. She asked the politicians and media to pay attention to all the reports being released by scientists working on climate change, and to urgently take action to protect the world for the future generation.

Thunberg talked about the 2018 SR15 1PCC report which revealed that in order to limit the temperature change to 1.5 degrees Celsius, we require, “rapid, far-reaching and unresponded changes in all aspects of society”.

She said, “In chapter two on page 108 in the SR15 IPCC report that came out in 2018, it says that if we are to have a 67 per cent chance of limiting the global average temperature rise to below 1.5 degrees Celsius, we had on Jan. 1 2018, we had about 420 gigatons of CO2 left to emit in that budget.”

She also warned that the reserve we have for the carbon budget might vanish in 8 years if we keep exhausting the sources. “That number is much lower today as we emit about 42 gigatons of CO2 every year. These numbers aren’t anyone’s opinions or political views, this is the current best available science. Though many scientists suggest these figures are too moderate, these are the ones accepted through the IPCC.”

Thunberg pointed out that it is due to the first world countries that the underdeveloped regions are suffering massive changes and authorities are not doing enough to stop it. She asked all the billionaires to focus their energy on making the voice of youth the center of attention and urged them to take action to lower their carbon footprint.
