Lionel Messi bagged and smashed records on his 700th Barcelona appearance.

This Wednesday at Camp Nou, Messi scored a record of 613 goals and 237 assists. Other than this major accomplishment, Messi played a significant role in getting Barcelona a top spot in Group F with a 3-1 score.

Following the lead of Xavi Hernández who made 767 appearances, Messi became the second Barcelona player to make a mark. Messi also has 34 trophies to his name, unlike any other club player.

To avoid letting this significant event go unnoticed, Luis Suarez teamed up with Messi and helped him open the scoring. On this auspicious night, the duo successfully recorded combined 800 lethal strike goals for Barcelona.

And that’s not it. This goal registered itself as a Champions League Record because it was against a 34th different European opposition.

Still, Messi was adamant about giving up.

The unflinching performance by Messi continued into the second half, and his swift yet delicate passes assisted Antoine Griezmann to score the winning goal.

Later, Dortmund tried to sabotage Messi’s contributions by offering a rally with Jadon Sancho, but it was too late to reverse the odds.

All 700 games were not enough to keep Messi from a yellow card- the only misfortune on the otherwise perfect Barcelona match.

The disbelief on Messi’s face says it all.

But this incident cannot take the limelight off from Messi’s unsullied performance.

[He] "is the best footballer I've ever seen -- period," Mat Hummels, a central defender for Borussia Dortmund told UEFA.com, signifying the staggering records held by Messi.

Messi has scored one goal per game in 218 occasions, two goals per game on 125 occasions, three goals per game on 40 occasions, four goals per game on five occasions.

With all of these accomplishments at the age of 32, Messi is on a roll.
